This simple recipe is one of Jerry’s favorites, and probably the main reason (to him) that we enjoy turkey on Thanksgiving here at the farm. We always make lots more stuffing (dressing?) and gravy than we need for our Thanksgiving meal so we have enough for this post Thanksgiving favorite.
Leftover turkey, cut into bite size pieces
Leftover dressing (stuffing?)
Press enough leftover dressing into a pie pan to make a “crust” about 1/2 inch thick. Add enough turkey to fill almost to the top of the pan. Pour leftover gravy into the turkey to fill most of the way to the top of the pan. Press leftover dressing into 1/2 in “sheets” as large as you can move and place on top of the turkey, filling in to making a “crust” top for the pie.
Place into oven and bake at 350F until warm and bubbly all the way through, about an hour (if you pre-heat your oven, longer if not).
Let stand for 5-10 minutes, or as long as you can stand without cutting into pie shaped wedges and serving. You can add ingredients such as cooked diced carrots, peas or other small pieces of cooked vegetables to the turkey filling if you like for color and variety.
